Latinx Halloween Series: Photography by Maria Cupa
BY MARIA CUPA
When I think of photography, one word comes to mind—life-style—the essence of a human being. The subject matter of my work is to capture people in real life situations that tell a story. I recently discovered some of my childhood pictures, simple and yet conveying a story. This strengthens my continuity—and the belief that the love for photography begins as early as childhood. As an older Latina "emerging" artist, I strive to evolve not only because I'm self-taught but also because art in the form of photography should continue to develop with time. I consider this a natural progression for artists like myself, learning is never ending. I aspire to leave an individual legacy of myself to my family, especially my son and, if fortunate enough, the world.
About the picture: The picture was taken at a Halloween event this past month where special effect props were sold. The lady behind the counter was sorting out the parts, perfect opportunity for a picture.
